A new report has surfaced that Robert Zemeckis, the man behind the Back to the Future trilogy will be directing a motion capture animation remake of The Beatles classic, Yellow Submarine. The most exciting revelation about this remake is the fact that it will be shot in 3D, a technology that seems to be getting better by the day. This project, which is being financed by Disney, will be shot using the same 3D and motion capture technology Zemeckis used in Polar Express, Beowulf, and a Christmas Carol.
Despite rumors that Paul and Ringo will be contributing their voices, reports to the contrary have surfaced. The actors set to star in the movie include British comedian Peter Serafinowicz as Paul, Dean Lennox Kelly as John Lennon, Cary Elwes of Princess Bride fame as George, and American actor Adam Campbell as Ringo Starr. The original 1968 version of the film also had actors voicing the parts of the Beatles, with the boys contributing 16 original songs to the soundtrack, all of which will be used in the remake.
The film is set for release in 2012.
