I have always loved cover songs that cross genres, and provide a completely fresh take of a great song.  JC Brooks & the Uptown sound do just that with their cover of Wilco’s “I am trying to break your heart”.  Wilco fans will also notice that this isn’t a straight cover song, the band also mixes a bridge from Wilco’s “Theologians” into the mix.

A version of this song recorded live at KDHX radio got passed around the web earlier this year, but the tune now has a polished recording and video to go along with it.   I have always loved Wilco’s original version of this song, but the Uptown Sounds’ version is certainly a welcome addition.  Check out the video below, as well as the original versions of “I am trying to break your heart” and “Theologians”.
