First Listen – Gregg Allman “Low Country Blues”

The voice of the Allman Brothers band is back with his first solo record in 14 years.  The new disc, Low Country Blues finds Gregg not going back to just his roots, but to the roots of American music.  Career reviver T Bone Burnett sits in the producers chair for this 12 track effort that includes covers of legends such as Otis Rush, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, and BB King.   Topping of this steady serving of blues standards is the standout  original track “Just Another Rider”, written alongside Gregg’s Allman bandmate Warren Haynes.

The new album won’t be released until January 18th, but thanks to the good folks over at NPR, you can stream the album in it’s entirety for free in the week leading up to its release. Click here to check out the new album.
