MOR New Tunes Playlist: Volume Seven
In addition to being a lucky number for some and a very good Brad Pitt movie the number seven also makes for a good MOR New Tunes Spotify Playlist. The latest version features 15 new songs that have been bumping through our stereos for the last few weeks and days. Hope on board, there are plenty of good tunes for the taking.
The latest version of the not-so-critically-acclaimed MOR New Tunes series features new music from the likes of Beach House, Cory Branan, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Sun Kil Moon, The Walkmen, Matt Pryor, Brandi Carlile, Japandroids, Langhorne Slim, Metric, The Tallest Man on Earth, Fiona Apple, Gaslight Anthem, and Shovels and Rope. We’re really happy with this edition, and hope you all enjoy.
Don’t have Spotify? Do yourself a favor and download it, it’s free and quite wonderful. Why don’t you follow us while you’re at it?
Langhorne Slim: MOR Front Porch Session
Not too long ago Langhorne Slim & The Law stopped by Norfolk to play at the Jewish Mother downtown, and while they were passing through, were kind enough to stop by MOR and play “Salvation” off their new album The Way We Move. We had a cool little industrial spot on the train tracks all picked out for our shoot, and then it rained all day and we quickly realized that a plan B was in order. Luckily the boys are super laid back and agreed to meet at MOR headquarters (aka our house) and rock out an intimate acoustic set instead. We never had any intention of shooting the video at our home, but everything just seemed to fall into place so perfectly that before we knew it, the Merchants of Rock Porch Sessions were born.
We had a great time with the band both filming “Salvation” and rocking out with them later on that evening as they showed how seamlessly they could transition from chilled out acoustic porch session to raucous high energy live show. Such down to earth and easy going people are sometimes hard to come by in this business, but these guys are the real deal, plus they make great music, so how could you go wrong? We can’t wait to see them the next time they roll through town, but for now we’ll settle for taking their new album for a spin. Enjoy the video below and grab The Way We Move, out now.

New Langhorne Slim – “The Way We Move”
It’s been almost 3 years since Langhorne Slim’s last full length album, Be Set Free – so the news of a new single and an upcoming full length is something to get excited about! This morning, Paste Magazine posted the aforementioned new tune “The Way We Move” and it is pretty fantastic.
We’ve had the chance to check out Langhorne and his band The Law a few times over the years, and it never anything short of a great time. Check out the new tune below, and get psyched for the new album, due out June 5th.
