She and Him “Volume 2″ Release Info
She & Him’s new album, aptly titled, Volume Two, will be released on March 23rd along with a 7″ vinyl of the new single “In The Sun,” which also includes a B side cover of the Beach Boys classic “I Can Hear Music.” The album was recorded in Los Angeles (She’s hometown) and Portland (He’s stomping grounds), with guest appearances by Tilly and the Wall and backing vocals by Mike Coykendall.
Volume Two promises to give us a little bit more of everything we loved about Volume One. ”I think we both went for it a little bit more,” states Deschanel on their website and Ward agrees stating “I believe good production should be like a good photograph, which is a great contrast between dark and light.” With Deschanel’s secret stash of original songs from the past 8 years, Wards production skills and a shared love of vintage tunes, this seems to be a match made in heaven.
The new single “In the Sun” is streaming free on the She and Him Website, and is available for free download here.
I checked out the covers online just to get a little teaser, and have them posted below. I can already hear Zooey’s voice on the Skeeter Davis song, but I think both are a great fit for She & Him.
The tracklist:
01 “Thieves
02 “In The Sun” (Feat. Tilly and the Wall)
03 “Don’t Look Back”
04 “Ridin’ In My Car” (NRBQ cover)
05 “Lingering Still”
06 “Me And You”
07 “Gonna Get Along Without You Now” (Skeeter Davis cover)
08 “Home”
09 “I’m Gonna Make It Better”
10 “Sing”
11 “Over It Over Again”
12 “Brand New Shoes”
13 “If You Can’t Sleep”
The duo has also announced tour dates this Spring:

The Skeeter Davis song has Zooey Deschanel written all over it!
Cutest band ever??
I am having a hard time waiting for this. The single is great.
I like the new single, but I don’t get why they brought in Tilly and the Wall to sing back up when they play such a small part in the song?
I can’t believe Zooey writes all her own songs – I’m impressed!
I’m glad there are less covers on the second album
Yes, the Beach Boys’ “I can hear music” is a classic, but lets not forget about Mr. Phil Spector who wrote and originally performed that little ditty. All murders aside, the man can craft a tune.
