Watch: Bonnie “Prince” Billy “I See A Darkness”
Even though the original song appears painfully beautiful and tragically sad, “I See A Darkness” is transformed into a danceable bouncy single here. Will Oldham has been known to rerecord old songs but this is no ordinary cover, this is a complete reimagining of the original, and it works. Oldham will be releasing an EP, Now Here’s My Plan, in July that has six new versions of songs from his catalog, but you can get a taste with the off beat video below. Featuring some pretty sweet dance moves, rather disturbing googly eyes and black and white cinematography, the video should make you want to call up that old friend that you haven’t caught up with in awhile.
